Celebrate your Wins however Great or Small!
Moment of truth: celebrating a win is most times difficult for me. I sat here thinking about how I don’t celebrate my gains enough.
Millennial societal norms make us feel like we are not worthy enough, or that our small wins are not good enough to be shouted out from the roof top, but why is that?
The Gram!!! Yup, the world of social media is so superficial, everything is GRAND and over-exaggerated, to the point that we start to feel as though reality (the small wins) are not good enough to shout about.
Think back to the Good ole day’s ( Prior to the current Gram) before over-edited photos and filters were a thing.
You remember those days when we didn’t have a care in the world—and used what we would now call outrageously unfashionable (what were you thinking pictures). Remember the days of old, when making meaningful connections actually mattered and it wasn’t all about how many likes or views one had? The days when mental health in both the young and old wasn’t a crisis??
If only yester-years were a thing that could come back. What would that perfectly imperfect gram look like to you? … how would you celebrate that world of normalcy? A world where you can be able to just be you and celebrate your gains, great or small.
I know some influencers don’t like to share a truth or two, but I love to keep it 100…. and that is also the ability to admit that right now Instagram is a little overwhelming. Way too planned. Way too over-produced. The authentic, quirkiness, realism and sometimes tardiness is no longer celebrated.
I am taking a break from social media to revisit me, the authentic me. I don’t want to sell a perfect dream and contribute to the mental health crisis. I want to break the falsehood of prim and proper and make room for realistic everyday life in those tiny squares— I don’t want to feel like I can’t post certain shots because they don’t match the “aesthetic.”
So, I just wanted to remind you that you are perfect just the way you are.
