REFLECTING IS A NECESSITY – 2018 REVIEW
Where do I begin?
GRATITUDE: I’m beyond grateful – I’m so grateful that I have the opportunity to follow my dreams and my hubby supports this and pushes me to become a better entrepreneur. Since the birth of our daughter, I made a vow to live my life with no regrets, as i now have a little person watching my every move and words. I don’t ever want to get to a place where I regret not trying in this lifetime. It’s a very comforting feeling, knowing I’m pursuing my goals and not holding back.
This year has been full of amazing open doors and I have made some amazing and meaningful connections. I know I was not able to take on as many collaborations as previously due to other commitments and a growing list of clients. However, 2019 I promise to make it up to the rest of you who have wanted to partner up and collaborate.
I was nominated for the BWBAwards and selected a finalist alongside Channel 4’s Secret Millionaire Business Mogul, Caroline Marsh. Saturday 27th October, all roads led to the BWBAwards at The Mayfair Hotel in London. Hosted by the awesome Afua Adom (@afuathescot), it was the most anticipated night for many women in business that has landed with a bang. The premier of the high-profile event celebrated and highlighted the best of Black Women in the British Business Sector. Thank you all for recognising me and feeling my work is worth rewarding.
I have stepped foot into TV stations, met and sat in boardrooms with C.E.O’s I admire and look up to. There is too much to mention. I am currently holding back on sharing about something amazing about to happen in my life but you will soon find out. My point is that be grateful in life and never stop going after your dreams.
SUPPORT: I have what I call “an army” around me (family) who are extremely loving and supportive and this makes this entrepreneurship journey easier to bare with. Speaking from experience here, when you start this journey, it can get very frustrating because maybe if you’re lucky you may become an overnight success however my journey hasn’t been one like that. My journey has meant some nights of sacrificing sleep and still have to make that nursery/school run. There were days, especially early on, that my spirit would feel downcast over a bad day and my husband would say something with a BIG impact – “you’ve talked about doing this for so long, why aren’t you happier? It’s okay that you aren’t bringing in the income you desire to just yet – we’ve got our savings or we’ll find a way to balance the books and make ends meet. Stay positive, work hard, and you’ll be successful.” Hearing those encouraging words were everything and very uplifting. Knowing I can leave our “Didi” with Mum and Dad when i’m invited to speak in places, awards or even networking events has been amazing and i’m grateful. I don’t for a second take having them around for granted.
This year is ending on another high note, I have just found out that I was selected a finalist at GAB Awards 2018 taking place at the Hilton London, Canary Wharf on the 16th of December.
Thank you for all your support this year, I look forward to what God has in store for us and working with you all in 2019.
Love and God bless you all
